Team Structure

The Cary Junior Trojan program has six football divisions that are classified according to age and weight per the rules of the The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL). These divisions are Flag, Bantam, Featherweight, Middleweight, Lightweight, and Heavyweight. Within each of these divisions the Cary Junior Trojans could have three types of teams; "Big10", "Mac10" and "Pac10".

Flag Football
Flag football games are played between intra Cary teams every Saturday at the Lions park field across from the post office. The season usually last from late August to mid October. All teams finish the season by playing in a Super Bowl celebrating the teams hard work throughout the season.

Big 10
There is one "Big10" team per division that plays on Sunday. The players are selected by the team's head coach to represent Cary Junior Trojans most competitive players at each age and weight level.

Mac10
There is an optional "Mac10" team per division depending on the number of players in a program.

Pac10
Remaining players are equally split among "Pac10" teams that play mostly on Saturday. For these teams, the rules mandate equal playing time and the emphasis is instruction, development and participation.

General Season Schedules

Season schedule

Normally the regular football season begins in July  and runs until late October with games being played each weekend. Teams may play pre-season practice games and then (usually) nine regular season games against other TCYFL teams. For teams reaching the post season, playoffs then begin at the end of October with the Super Bowls for each division occuring in the middle of November.

Preseason "Combine"

The Cary Junior Trojans tackle program begins with a two week preseason "combine" during which players accomplish the State required 10 hours of conditioning and coaches conduct their player skills assesment. The first week (or 10 hours) players rotate through conditioning drills aimed at developing basic speed, agility, and football skills while only wearing helmets and cleats, no other pads. The second week (only after completing the required 10 hours of conditioning) players practice in full pads while they rotate through full contact drills working in small groups developing football basics as they get ready for the regular season. During the combine, coaches are constantly evaluating all players so that they can properly draft players to their team as described in the draft process.

Practice

Beginning with the combine and lasting until school starts, tackle football practice occurs every night Monday through Friday usually for two hours each evening. Bantam football players practice at Deer Path school fields, Featherweight, and Middleweight teams practice at Lions Park, and the Lightweight and Heavyweight players practice at Galway Field. Once school begins, most coaches elect to practice 3 nights a week for two hours each night, but the practice schedule is at the discretion of the head coach.

Age and Weight Information

The age and weight divisions for the Cary Junior Trojans tackle program are determined by The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL). Cary Junior Trojans and all other football associations that are members of the TCYFL abide by these classifications. During registration each player is required to provide a copy of their birth certificate to the Cary Junior Trojans as proof of the player's age on September 1, and each player is required to weigh in. The chart below serves as a guideline to assist you in determining which division a player could play in.

Equipment

All players are required to be fully suited with non-defective equipment in order to practice or play in a game - no exceptions. This includes the helmet and shoulder pads which are provided by the Cary Junior Trojans, and a mouth guard, padded pants (only slotted pants permitted - no snaps), belt, cleats, socks, and practice jersey which you must purchase. For all games, players are required to wear their personalized game jersey which is purchased as part of the program fees.
