Cheer

Go...Fight...Win...

The Cary Junior Trojan Cheerleaders rally the crowd at our Junior Trojans football games. If you're energetic and love to have fun, then cheer is for you. You'll learn cheers, chants and stunts and you will have the opportunity to do some tumbling, jumps and some dance with high energy. Cheerleaders support and energize the team from the kick off to the final whistle. Cheerleaders participate in all games, home and away and we offer squads for teams that play on Saturday and Sunday.

Philosophy

We Strive to teach young women the benefits of a team, while developing and discovering sportsmanship, character, responsibility, respect, safety, and the essentials of a good cheerleader.

Team Structure

Participants are divided by Saturday and Sunday squads based on school grade. Cheerleading is offered to girls from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Each grade level has two squads and our Kindergarden squads cheer for the flag football players.

General Season Schedule

This years regular Cheer and Pom season begins on July 11th and runs until late October with games being played each weekend. All squads cheer and perform one pre-season practice game and nine regular season games right along with our Football teams. Our Cheer and Pom squads continue along with our Football teams through the playoffs in October and hopefully into the Super Bowls in November. Our Kindergarten mascot squads cheer on Saturdays for our Flag football teams, their season ends with the Flag Championship game at the end of October or 1st week in November. There are no competitions for Kindergarten.

Practice

Our practices begin outdoors 2 or 3 days a week during the summer months at variety of different parks in Cary. Once school starts in August, our practices move indoors 2 days a week at our D26 schools.Day and times are chosen by each coach, and that information will be available prior to our season starting.

Once we get closer to our Competition dates, coaches may increase practices to 3 days a week. Coaches will hand out all this information prior to our season starting. Our Kindergarten Mascot squads, will only practice one night a week and their practices do stay outdoors.

Competitions & Family Performance Night

We compete in two IRCA Competitions in October and November, which can earn a bid to Compete in the IRCA State Competition the first weekend in December. Squads qualifying for the State competition will continue to practice through the first week of December. Coaches will hand out competition information at the start of season.

The end of the season offers all of our Cary Junior Trojan families the opportunity to be dazzled by the performances of each cheer and pom squad at our annual Family Performance Night at Cary-Grove High School.

The Cary Junior Trojan Cheer and Pom programs are members of the Illinois Recreational Cheer Association (IRCA), a premier Cheer and Pom youth recreational league in the Midwest. You can learn more about our league at www.recreationalcheer.com.
