General Season Schedule
This year’s regular Pom season practices will start in August and run through mid-November. About mid-August, Poms will start performing at football games. Poms will compete at 2 local competitions in October – November with our oldest level team having the opportunity to extend their season into December for Nationals.
Team formation of each squad is dependent on having adequate registration numbers and volunteer coaches.
2022 Poms will be offered to all in grades K - 8th. Teams will also be formed by age group in accordance with the Pop Warner age matrix.
Practices are held locally in the Cary and Fox River Grove area. Days and times are chosen by the Directors based on availability of practice and the number of poms teams. Coaches will communicate the practice schedule to teams before our season begins. For teams who are competing, an extra practice will be added the week of competition.
K/1 will practice 1 day a week for 1 hour from August – October.
2nd – 8th grade teams will practice 2-3 days a week. Duration will vary based on grade level.
All squads dance and perform at pre-season and home regular season football games at the football field at Cary Junior High. Pom squads continue along with our Football teams through the playoffs in October and into the Super Bowl games in November. Games will be played on either Saturday or Sunday. Game dates and times will be communicated 1-2 weeks in advance.
For 2022, CJT Poms will participate in Pop Warner dance competitions. 2nd – 8th grade teams will participate in a Conference competition in mid/end of October and a Regional competition in early November. For most teams, the season will end after Regionals. If our oldest level team qualifies for Nationals they will continue to practice up to Nationals in December. The National competition takes place in Orlando, FL. The team will fundraise throughout the season to help with this additional expense.
Game Day Uniforms and Competition costumes are not included in the registration fee.
